The Dirt Road StoryDirt Road is a family-owned business, operated by husband and wife team Andrew and Marion Findlay.
The items displayed on this website are the culmination of the many years of experience in the design, manufacture, and distribution of outdoor and safari clothing that the Findlays bring to the business.
Andrew Findlay, a founder and later franchisor of the Trappers Trading chain of outdoor stores, has been manufacturing clothing for the outdoor retail trade and safari industry for the past 25 years. He knows, from experience, what features are essential for appropriate and comfortable workwear and safari clothing.
The clothing fabrics are all woven locally and, to ensure consistent quality, Dirt Road has teamed up with Dave Telford who oversees the production of the clothing in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility just around the corner.
Marion Findlay began crafting her range of exclusive canvas and leather luggage in 1994, starting with one machinist in a converted garage. While her range of products has grown considerably over the years, the manufacturing facility remains small.
Today you'll find a dedicated and skilled staff producing the current canvas and leather range to the same exacting standards, albeit in a larger workshop at Curry's Post in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal.
NEW! A selection of our canvas and leather bags can now be ordered online, direct from the workshop. See Dirt Road Luggage for more
